About the Honeybees Gospel Choir

The Honeybees is a well known Sydney based a cappella gospel choir formed in 1996 under the direction of acclaimed musician Tony Backhouse

Although not a religious choir, the Honeybees find inspiration in the passionate, joyous and engaging quality of the gospel and soul genres. Their live performances of soulful, foot-stomping traditional gospel and related numbers leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.

The choir has performed for a wide range of events over the years from fundraising concerts, weddings, festivals and graduation ceremonies, to high profile corporate functions and radio broadcasts. Each year the choir hosts two concerts, the proceeds of which are donated to a worthy charity or organisation.

Under the direction of current Musical Director Stephen Clarke, the Honeybees has embraced exciting new repertoire and many performance opportunities. With talented soloists and an excellent ensemble sound, the Honeybees are highly engaging and entertaining.
